Develop a positive and professional relationship with all Learners

I hope to develop a positive, yet professional relationships with all the children in the class. I need for them to be aware that I am not their friend. I do however want to create a trusting relationship with the pupils and ensure that they feel comfortable around me and are not afraid to ask for help.

The aspects of the SPR that this links with are;

  • Demonstrate care and commitment to working with all learners (3.2.2)
  • Show awareness of educational research and local and national advice and demonstrate the ability to use a variety of strategies to build relationships with learners, promote positive behaviour and celebrate success (3.2.2)

Behaviour Management

My goal is to learn different strategies of copying with challenging behaviour and to observe and speak to the class teacher to see how she deals with challenging behaviour and notice the signs that show the pupils are getting distracted and starting to misbehave. Also to learn not to instantly raise my voice when pupils misbehaviour and to use the correct strategy which the school promotes.

The aspects of the SPR that this links with are;

  • Show awareness of educational research and local and national advice and demonstrate the ability to use a variety of strategies to build relationships with learners, promote positive behaviour and celebrate success (3.2.2)
  • Apply the school’s positive behaviour policy, including strategies for understanding and preventing bullying (3.2.2)
  • Know how and when to seek the advice of colleagues in managing behaviour (3.2.2)
  • Demonstrate the ability to justify the approach taken in managing behaviour (3.2.2)

Develop my Lesson Planning Skills

I have never had to plan a whole lesson before. I hope that I am able to come up with engaging lessons that are aimed at the correct level for my class and match the Experience and Outcome, I am aiming for the children to achieve.

The aspects of the SPR that this links with are;

  • Know how to plan for effective teaching and learning across different contexts and experiences (2.1.3)
  • Plan appropriately for effective teaching, and in order to meet the needs of all learners including learning in literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing and skills for learning, life and work (3.1.1)
