Code Club

Code Club is one of a number of Technologies enrichment and enhancement organisations developing computer science resources and learning opportunities for young people in Scotland and the UK.

Code Club is a nationwide network of coding clubs for children. The clubs are free to run and free to attend. Code Club create projects to teach at after-school coding clubs or at non-school venues, such as libraries. The projects they make teach children how to program by showing them how to make computer games, animations and websites. Through learning to code, the children develop a number of core skills including problem solving, creativity and communication – although they have no idea they are developing these skills because they are so busy having fun. Most clubs run for an hour a week.

Code Club materials offer a chance for children to learn to code using Scratch, HTML and CSS, and Python. View some Code Club projects.

The organisation’s aim is to give every child the skills, confidence and opportunity to shape their world. Check out the Code Club website or email the Scotland Coordinator for Code Club on scotland@codeclub.org.uk, to find out how you can get involved.
