Senior Pupil Leadership Teams
Pupils in P6&7 have now been advised of their leadership roles. These roles include:
Pupil Council, Leaders of Learning, Junior Road Safety Officers, Library Assistants, Reading Schools, Lunch Assistants, STEM leaders, Digital Ambassadors, Care Wave, Emotion Coaches, Sports Leaders and MISSIO Champions. All children wishing to take on a leadership role outlined which roles they were interested in and wrote a summary to support their application. We will be putting them all to work soon!
Our Pupil Care Wave Team delivered an input at Assembly today on the importance of understanding feelings and demonstrating empathy and understanding. They are going to introduce a worry box in the school and support where they can.
Participatory Budget Consultation
We are welcoming suggestions for our Participatory Budget spend for session 2026-27. The attached link will take you to the form.
One of our children today suggested that we spend the money on ‘roving mics’ so that these can be used during our Assemblies, as it can be difficult to hear when someone in the audience asks a question or gives a response. A great suggestion!

MISSIO
Our MISSIO Ambassadors are now in place, and they look forward to sharing information about the charity and our work with them. We are a Bronze Award school due to the amount of work, support and help that we have provided to the charity and those in need.
Children are welcome to bring in pennies to add to the class charity boxes and our Ambassadors will collect and count the money weekly.
Our MISSIO Ambassadors issued The Unity Prayer cards today to children and this can be prayed at home as a family.
Holiday
A polite reminder that we are closed on Friday 25th and Monday 28th September for the holiday weekend. We close at the usual time of 3pm on Thursday.

Senior Pupil Leadership Teams
Elections for P6 Vice House Captains have now taken place. The results are as follows:

Further roles will be finalised next week for P6 and P7, and we look forward to announcing these in due course once the applications have been read through.
Mass
We attended our first school Mass of the year today. Father Dominic commented on the children’s beautiful singing, mass responses and excellent behaviour.
The Children’s Liturgy begins again at 10am Mass from this week onwards. Children are warmly invited to attend.
Flu Vaccine
On Monday the NHS flu team will be administering the vaccination to the school children. Only those who have returned their flu form will be able to get this on the day.
There will be a catch-up day later in the session for anyone who is absent.

The Parent Council AGM was also held on Wednesday. Elections took place for roles for the year ahead.

Assembly
Over the past few weeks, we have been discussing Meta-Skills with the children and how these important every-day skills are essential for life, learning and work.
We recapped on Focus (Focusing Fergus), Adaptability (Adapting Aleksander) and Communication (Communicating Cate). Have a chat with your child at home about these ‘characters’ and when we might need to use them in school, at home and in the wider community/workplace.

PTA
A huge thanks to our PTA for organising yesterday’s event as a welcome to the new school year and to our new families. It was well attended and the children had lots of fun.
Our PTA are keen to have new members join so please pop along to our meeting on Wednesday 2nd September at 7pm.
Likewise, our Parent Council is also open to all on the same evening with the meeting commencing at 6.15pm.
Football
The football after school club commences on Thursday 3rd September at 3pm. Alternate weeks P7/P6. Children must be registered to attend.

A copy of a Welcome Newsletter was issued to all this week. We always issue quite a lengthy Newsletter in August with information about school life.

Lunch Menu
Please note that on Monday 24th August our new lunch menu begins. Copies have been issued; however, it can also be accessed via this link.
This is free to all P1-5 and at a charge of £2.71 for P6&7 unless eligible for free school meals. The price of milk is also rising to 33p unless eligible for free meals. Any queries then please contact our office.
Diocesan Children’s Choir
Please note the following information with regards to the Children’s Diocesan Choir.
The Diocese of Motherwell is launching a new Children’s Choir for pupils in Primary 5–7, beginning on Wednesday 2 September 2026 at Our Lady of Good Aid Cathedral Primary School, Motherwell.
Open to all and with no audition required, the choir will provide a fun and welcoming environment where children can make new friends, learn new skills and grow in confidence through singing.
Rehearsals will take place every Wednesday from 6pm–7pm. The first term will focus on singing, musicianship, and fun, with no public performances until Christmas.
