An outcome of the collaboration was a pathway to support schools channelling their referral should they decide to make one. The purpose of a FLA process is to assess pupils\u2019 linguistic competence in their first language, the surface fluency as well as in cognitively demanding language tasks.\u00a0 It should confirm if pupils\u2019 first language ability is appropriate for their age and also identify areas of strength and for development.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The workshop will highlight the rationale for the collaboration, explore the guidance document and encourage discussion around local settings. Case scenario activities will provide practical link to guidance document and referral pathway.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">EAL and Dyslexia<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>This session aims to highlight the additional issues that may impact on learning and teaching for EAL learners who may have dyslexia. Issues covered will include information about some potential barriers along with practical strategies to support.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Autistic Spectrum Disorders and EAL<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>This workshop aims to provide an overview and information on how EAL Teachers in Glasgow have been working with children with EAL and ASD. At this session we will share the strategies used and demonstrate resources that have been developed. In particular we will look at practical strategies with parents and SfLW staff. <\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong><span style=\"color: #0000ff\">Sensory Stories<\/span> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><em>Storytelling is one of our oldest art forms. It stimulates the imagination and builds a sense of community between tellers and listeners. It is motivational, exploratory and empowering. Storytelling connects people and communities. This is a practical workshop where you will have the opportunity to explore the importance of the story telling space and hear how multi-sensory stories help people to engage, communicate, connect and have fun. During the workshop you will hear how multi-sensory storytelling offers a versatile, educational, therapeutic and fun opportunity for the story teller and listener.
