LGBTQ+ information page

We are continuing our commitment to inclusion and supporting LGBTQ+ students and staff. Having been recognised for our work in this area by achieving our Bronze Charter status. We are looking to build on this good work and attempt to achieve our Silver or Gold status. Our goal in undertaking this programme is to ensure all staff, parents/carers and young people are safe, supported and included. This is supported by Scottish Government and forms part of our duties as practitioners under the Equality Act (2010).

As we do annually we will continue to celebrate LGBT cultural events through our curriculum. Pupils will be asked to contribute their views on how Rosshall Academy can be a more inclusive and welcoming place. Furthermore we will:

  • Undertake staff training set by LGBT Youth Scotland
  • Continue to offer and explore safe spaces for LGBT young people
  • Identify a staff and pupil ‘Champion group’ to take forward priorities
  • Ensure our policies relating to Equality and Anti-bullying are in line with the Equality Act (2010)

If you would like to find out more about the work we are doing as part of the LGBT Youth Charter please contact Mr Simpson

Below are some charities we regularly signpost pupils, parents and carers to. In school support can be provided through the Pastoral Care department as well as the LGBT Club, which takes place Monday Lunch time (Ms Frediani’s Room)
