Why a teacher?

One of the main reasons that I want to be a teacher is my Granny, who used to teach but was forced to retire early due to cancer. Thankfully she is still alive and cured. My Granny has told me many stories about teaching and how rewarding it is, so from a young age it has always been a goal for me to achieve.

It was not until my first lot of work experience at a primary school that I realised that I had a real desire to make this my vocation. The reason I felt so strongly about this was because of the Nurture Group at the primary school and saw the children with Additional Support Needs and worked with the people in the ASN base. I found this to be the most valuable experience and would eventually like to work only with ASN kids.
