The children enjoyed walking their character through the grass, and mud etc in time with the story. <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\ud83d\udc3b\ud83d\udca7\u2744\ufe0f<\/span><span class=\"s2\"><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>Our children have the best imaginations! <\/span><span class=\"s3\">\u2764\ufe0f<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1137\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/0824C920-67E6-4E84-9D32-AE6B293D982A-225x300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"225\" height=\"300\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Woodwork<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In the woodwork area we have been focusing on Valentine\u2019s Day! We made wooden hearts using hammers and nails. allowing children to use real tools and have real life experiences gives children a real sense of achievement and empowerment. The children have the chance to risk assess, develop hand eye coordination and develop their concentration skills.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1138\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/87E42DB7-E7F1-4D69-AA34-FEA4EE3CA4ED-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Courtyard<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">This week in the courtyard the children have been interested in making their own obstacle courses.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\ud83e\uddf1\u26bd\ufe0f<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Whilst working hard and the children creating their own vision, the benefits are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul class=\"ul1\">\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Strength and Balance, when children encounter obstacles in an obstacle course they develop and enhance strength and balance.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Memory and Problem Solving.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Sensory Processing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Motor Skills.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"li2\"><span class=\"s1\">Coordination.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The children are also valuing opportunities to make friends and be part of a group in a range of different situations. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">The children were speaking about more benefits as it can keep the children fit and healthy ensuring they eat some fruit and vegetables too.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\ud83c\udf53\ud83c\udf4e\ud83e\udd52\ud83c\udf3d\ud83e\udd55<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">These activities encourage children to be independent and lead their own learning, which the children were more engaged and interested as it was all their own ideas and vision. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p2\"><span class=\"s1\">Using a variety of new words for some children such as jumping high, balancing on the blocks, and using concentration for a longer period of time.<\/span><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1139\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/7B93B659-3202-4E4F-9D8B-230DE614912B-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1140\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/8DB0D7AC-A4CE-4CF6-ADCB-26CE56D6C741-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Acorn Room. <\/b>(2-3 room)<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The children were provided with a range of experiences to support their next steps of achieving particular learning outcomes in Realising the ambition: Being me, celebrating Valentines. There was discussions about people we love and why we love them. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A few children chose to use their self help skills, to peel and chop a banana.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The children scooped and measured creating<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>\u201clove soup\u201d and role played as they fed it to the dolls.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">A child showed an interest in our water tray, we added ducks and pink glitter. This sparked the children\u2019s curiosity of colours, identifying the coloured ducks. A child was able to count them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Following the discussion of who we loved, we created valentines pictures for our loved ones. A few children were able to count their finger marks, of how many spots were on their bug.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1141\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/C15FB611-B030-408F-8298-E5A9E1C5F648-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1143\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/278397C4-134C-4C65-B5C7-98752D31FFBA-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Happy Valentines for Monday, you are loved.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">After showing an interest in transporting, some of the children have been building on their fine-motor skills through various threading and sorting experiences using loose parts.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Have a lovely weekend! <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Erin \ud83d\ude42<\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1144\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/B968F07C-FD19-42E4-8560-E48288CE3DD6-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-1145\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/oakburn\/files\/2022\/02\/6D521915-B98C-45D8-8E41-E85F32858944-300x225.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/><\/p>\n<p><b>Garden<\/b><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">We continued to develop \u2018Animal World\u2019 at the bottom of the garden.<\/span><span class=\"s2\">\ud83e\uddab\ud83d\udc3f\ud83c\udf33\ud83c\udf3f\ud83c\udf31<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">The children wanted to add pine cones to \u2018to give the animals food and we can pretend the cones are eggs that have babies inside!\u2019&#8230; <\/span><span class=\"s2\">\u2764\ufe0f<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">To extend learning we then looked at mathematical concepts such as pattern and addition!
