We are so excited to share what we have been working on in class as part of our <b data-path-to-node=\"3\" data-index-in-node=\"136\">IOW (Improve Our Writing)<\/b> sessions.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"5\">What We Learned This Week: Sentence Fragments \ud83e\udde9<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"6\">This week, our big focus was learning all about <b data-path-to-node=\"6\" data-index-in-node=\"48\">fragment sentences<\/b>. We discovered that a sentence fragment is only a little piece of a sentence, so it doesn&#8217;t make complete sense on its own!<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"7\">We learned a very important rule: <b data-path-to-node=\"7\" data-index-in-node=\"34\">To make a fragment into a complete sentence, we have to add a subject or a person!<\/b><\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"8\">Here is an example of what we practised:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"9\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"9,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Fragment:<\/b> <i data-path-to-node=\"9,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"10\">&#8220;Ran to the swings.&#8221;<\/i> \u274c <i data-path-to-node=\"9,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"33\">(Wait&#8230; who ran to the swings?)<\/i><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"9,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"9,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Complete Sentence:<\/b> <i class=\"\" data-path-to-node=\"9,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"19\">&#8220;<strong>The girl<\/strong> ran to the swings.&#8221;<\/i> \u2705 <i data-path-to-node=\"9,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"47\">(Now it makes total sense!)<\/i><\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"10\">We have been doing fun IOW activities every single day this week, using our mini-whiteboards, playing sentence-sorting games, and spot-checking our work to make sure no lonely fragments escaped into our jotters.<\/p>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"12\">What\u2019s Next? \ud83d\ude80<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"13\">We are at the very start of a 3<b data-path-to-node=\"13\" data-index-in-node=\"30\">-week IOW block<\/b>, which means we will be doing daily writing challenges for the next 3 weeks to build our sentence power!<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"14\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">Next week\u2019s focus:<\/b> We are going to be learning all about <b data-path-to-node=\"14,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"57\">run-on sentences<\/b> and how to stop our sentences from going on and on and on without taking a breath!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3 data-path-to-node=\"16\">Try It at Home! \ud83c\udfe0<\/h3>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"17\">Ask us at home if we can spot a fragment sentence!
