On Tuesday we had the most exciting morning ever<\/b> because a real Taekwondo teacher came to visit us in the gym hall! We were so surprised when we walked in and saw her wearing a white uniform with a shiny black belt<\/b>. She looked just like a superhero, and she showed us how to stand up super tall and bow nicely to show respect before we started. We got to shout, Tae-Kwon-Do!<\/p>\n

First, we had to warm up our bodies so we didn’t turn into floppy noodles. We ran around the hall as fast as cheetahs and stretched our arms right up to the ceiling.\u00a0 We learned that Taekwondo comes from a place called Korea<\/p>\n

Then came the absolute best part of the morning<\/b> \u2014 learning the moves! We stood in a special guard stance with our fists up near our cheeks to protect our faces. We practiced punching the air, and then punching the pad. \u00a0It was so loud it sounded like a huge thunderstorm inside our gym hall!<\/p>\n

Then we got to try Superman<\/strong> flying punches<\/b>! The instructor held up the big, soft red pads for us to hit. We lined up, took turns running up, and punched the pads as hard as we possibly could.<\/p>\n

We learned that Taekwondo is not for fighting or playing rough, but for being kind, brave, and respectful<\/b> to everyone around us. We promised not to practise our superpower shouts during quiet reading time in class and only do the moves when we are at Taekwondo.<\/p>\n
