Did you know that 2D shapes are completely flat? We know lots of their names now, like squares, rectangles, triangles, circles, and even hexagons!<\/p>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"3\">To help us learn all about straight sides and pointy corners, we had five brilliant shape-building stations in the classroom. We worked with our learning partners and used lots of different materials to build our own shapes:<\/p>\n<ul data-path-to-node=\"4\">\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,0,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Straw Station:<\/b> We used brightly coloured straws to make giant squares and really long rectangles on the carpet.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,1,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Magnet Station:<\/b> This one was so much fun! We clicked the magnetic pieces together to build super sturdy triangles and diamonds.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,2,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,2,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Lollistick Station:<\/b> We had to use our problem-solving skills to lay the lollisticks flat and see how many different multi-sided shapes we could make.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,3,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,3,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Cocktail Stick Station:<\/b> These were a little bit fiddly and tricky, but we used them to carefully count the straight sides and corners of our shapes.<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"4,4,0\"><b data-path-to-node=\"4,4,0\" data-index-in-node=\"0\">The Shape Blocks Station:<\/b> We used smaller wooden shapes and fitted them together like a jigsaw puzzle to make massive shape pictures!<\/p>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p data-path-to-node=\"5\">We had the best time being shape builders.
