{"id":31403,"date":"2026-02-26T15:26:57","date_gmt":"2026-02-26T15:26:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/newtonfarm\/?p=31403"},"modified":"2026-02-26T15:29:28","modified_gmt":"2026-02-26T15:29:28","slug":"a-week-in-room-5","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/newtonfarm\/2026\/02\/26\/a-week-in-room-5\/","title":{"rendered":"A week in Room 5"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Pupil Voice-<\/p>\n<p>This week in Room 5 we have been learning about:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Wind Turbines- They make electricity, this electricity renewable.<\/li>\n<li>Split Digraphs- i_e and o_e<\/li>\n<li>Scottish Islands- Difference between schools and homes in islands, and schools and homes in cities.<\/li>\n<li>Sea Creatures that live in the Atlantic Ocean.<\/li>\n<li>Different ways to get to an island, especially using a boat.<\/li>\n<li>2D shapes- Triangle, Rectangle, Square, Circle, Pentagon, Hexagon and Oval<\/li>\n<li>Fact Files for our Writing, based on animals that live in Scottish Islands- Scottish Wildcat, Golden Eagle, Red Squirrel, Dolphins, Hares, Red Deer, Badger<\/li>\n<li>Multiplication- by 2, 5, 10<\/li>\n<li>Doubling Numbers<\/li>\n<li>We have been reading Non Fiction and learning how to answer questions on Non Fiction Books.<\/li>\n<li>Games on the Chromebooks with the P5 Buddies<\/li>\n<li>Painting and describing pictures of Scottish Islands<\/li>\n<li>Painting and drawing off-shore and on-shore wind turbines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>We have worked so hard this week, please remember to ask us about it at home so we can share our learning.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Reminders:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Indoor P.E- Thursday and Friday<\/p>\n<p>Please pack a jacket as children will be outdoor for breaks and lunch, and we will aim to be out every Friday for P.E (Weather Permitting!)<\/p>\n<p>Our school trip is on Monday 30th March.<\/p>\n<p>Homework will go out on Tuesday, to be returned on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Thanks so much,<\/p>\n<p>Room 5 and Miss Livingstone<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Pupil Voice- This week in Room 5 we have been learning about: Wind Turbines- They make electricity, this electricity renewable.
