End of term news…  Your child’s report will come home with them today, please return the paper feedback sheet to your child’s class teacher after the holiday.   This year you will also be sent an electronic version of the report through Parent Portal.  We hope to send all information through Parent Portal in the new session so we will ask for some feedback after the Easter break on how easy it was to access and read the report on Parent Portal.

We would like to wish everyone a very restful, enjoyable Easter holiday and we look forward to seeing you all again on Monday 15th April.  Please see our latest newsletter for an update on some of our school events this term and some dates for your diary for the term ahead.  NFPS Newsletter March 24

Welcome back!

Room 6 had a lovely day yesterday settling back into our routines. We enjoyed writing about things we got up to during the holidays and sharing our news with our peers. It sounded like Room 6 had a busy time over the holidays! We are looking forward to continuing to build our learning over the final term before the summer holidays.

To end last term, we had a great last week with lots of exciting activities. To mark the end of our reading of ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, we had a relaxing final afternoon watching the film and identifying similarities and differences to the book.

Mrs Rae also brought in her violin to mark the completion of our music topic. We learned about the different parts of the violin, how to correctly use this instrument and all got a shot at playing notes. We are naturals!

Room 23 End of Term Update

What a wonderful final few weeks of Term 3!

– We took part in Easter Code led by Ross and his team

– We enjoyed Science Week, during which many of our pupils were around the school teaching science lessons to other classes! Excellent job STEM leaders.

– We found out that 2 out of our 18 DigiInventor entries have won ‘Runners-Up’ and will be attending the award ceremony in the City of Glasgow College!

– I think a few of us see ourselves as Strathclyde Uni students after our visit! We took part in a maths workshop, tried out a game which we controlled with our eyes and shared our DigiInventor creations with Professors of Digital Health and Care! I think they might want to create some of our solutions!

A fantastic end to term 3! Enjoy your break everyone 🌸☀️😄

Mr Wonka’s Product Development Team! :)

Room 5 have really enjoyed learning all about chocolate during our recent class topic. Over the last few weeks, as part of our home learning, we have been creating our very own chocolate bars. We had to think about the ingredients we would use and the wrapper that we would design. This week we have presented our creations as solo talks to our peers. It has been so much fun hearing about all the chocolate bars. We were super impressed by everyone’s posters and models that they made to accompany their talks. Well done everyone, you are all superstars!

It has been a very fast term but we have learned so many new skills. Here is a little reflection from some of us about what we have enjoyed learning this term or a special memory:

    • AB – I liked to go to the panto and we watched it.
    • LC – Learning new common words.
    • LD – I love learning my phonics because I like my phonics and I can do sounds.
    • CG – I love learning new sounds.
    • CD – I liked learning about the chocolate like the caramel wafer designs.
    • RC – I loved doing maths doing BINGO with Miss Mulreany when she was winning.

Please check school bags for reports which were sent home today. We would like to wish everyone a happy and safe Easter break and look forward to seeing everyone again in April.

What we learn

**Blog Post by Sophia & Ruby**

What we learn in a week

                               literacy

We were doing past, present and future tense. We got into our literacy groups and did different tasks. It was so fun the whole class loved it.

Maths

We were learning to find the fraction of a number.By using our division and multiplication knowledge .We practised by doing a page in a text book and the teacher was also doing examples on the board so we found it easy.

Autism

We learned about people who have autism. Mrs Graham’s son came in and taught us all about autism and what it is like for him.

Hope you have an amazing easter

Room 16 blog

Happy Easter everybody!

Spring is near and Easter bunnies are all around it seems! We have had such a fun week in Room 16 creating 3D clay Easter bunnies to celebrate the upcoming holiday. We have been appreciating the changing seasons and all the new flowers coming into bloom in our local area.

For literacy, we are continuing to work on our spelling strategies to help us spell tricky words and our reading books. In numeracy, we have been focusing hard on our division skills and challenging ourselves to try tricky sums with division. We have also made a link between fractions and division through our ‘rainbow’ fractions technique which has helped us to identify equal fractions.

We have learned all about the Easter story and important traditions and belief’s celebrated around the world.

We have also been learning about some Easter themed vocabulary in French and showing this through ‘Easter scenes’ that we have annotated in our IDL jotters.

From Room 16, we hope everyone has a great holiday that’s filled with chocolate’s and ‘les bonbons’!

Clay Modelling

This week, we continued to look at famous European artists. Our focus this week was on Auguste Rodin and his famous sculptures. We used clay to create a model of ourselves, striking a pose. Now we need to let them dry and then paint them.

Class Trip

What a fantastic day trip we had yesterday to Kelvingrove Museum and Art Gallery. The bus was great fun as we all had a singalong. When we arrived we admired the enormous building and then had a snack underneath the organ in the middle of the building. We then went down to the Education Suite before touring the galleries. We absolutely loved touring the galleries and seeing a mixtures of sculptures and pieces of Art. Sophie particularly like the French Art section. After lunch we enjoyed a workshop led by Anna. We thought we would be in the Education suite but we were taken to work around the gallery. It was the most wonderful experience and memories we will treasure. We got to take our Art work home to show our families everything we learned. Thank you very much to all of the staff at Kelvingrove for welcoming us and helping us evaluate and appreciate art in such a fun and engaging way!
