Autumn Activities

We have had another busy week in Room 14. We started this week by celebrating Halloween. We had some snacks and a drink in class and had fun during the Primary 4 parade before dancing to a few spooky songs in the gym hall. Your costumes were great.

We used our Halloween emotion pumpkins and the orange cog to think about the different feelings characters had in my favourite book, The Lorax. We were also inspired to write our own stories after a visit from our reading ambassadors, Jackson and Poppy.

In Maths, the Cylinders group enjoyed lessons with Miss Anderson about Shape. The Cubes have been working on their ability to add in columns.

Today we went around the school grounds collecting leaves, stones and twigs. We looked at some pieces of Art by Andy Goldsworthy, a British artist, and then had a go at creating our own Land Art. The finished pieces were excellent.

We finished today by having a PE session outside on the pitches.  We are working on our racquet skills during badminton and tennis sessions.

I hope you all have a great weekend. See you on Monday.

Room 14 Health and Wellbeing and Rights Respecting Schools

October 12, 2023 by Miss Kennedy | 0 comments

Room 14 have had a brilliant first term. We have been building relationships with each other during Social Time by playing board games and Maths and Literacy activities.

In Literacy, we have been trying to improve the sentences we are writing by including the correct punctuation and adding adjectives before nouns. We have been working ok writing imaginative stories during our Taught Writing lessons. When reading we have been really trying to project our voices and use expression.

In Maths, we have been learning about different strategies to help us add and understand place value, through Number Talks. We have been using the Topmarks website for Maths games too.

Home Learning is now on Google Classroom and all pupils all have been issued with a home learning jotter, spelling menu, words and a Mathletics log in card.

Enjoy the October week holiday.

See you soon
