Room 16 ⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🕺🏻📚🥳☀️

We have had a busy week in Room 16!

We kicked off the week by watching the Scotland game! It was very tense in Room 16 🤣⚽️🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Our First Minister Reading Challenge celebrations were lots of fun. We enjoyed listening to famous authors tell us about their books, we had a big book quiz all about the books we have read this year AND we were all gifted a book for our ‘highly commended’ achievement. Well done!

We are becoming more confident identifying, ordering and using decimals in maths 🧮

The sun was shining this afternoon and we decided to spend time outside reflecting back on our favourite moments of P6 ☀️

First Minister’s Reading Challenge

What a fun and busy week in Room 1. We celebrated gaining recognition in the First Minister’s Reading Challenge and we are so very proud of ourselves. In Room 1, we love to read and it is wonderful to be recognised.   First, we toured the school to see all of the fabulous decorations, then we took part in a mystery book competition and finally we each received a brand new book! We sure are lucky!

We also wrote letters to our new teachers! Although we are sad to leave Room 1, we are super excited to start our journey into Primary 2.

Finally, last week we thought about our community and the jobs we could have within them as part of  Developing the Young Workforce week. Lots of us have some ideas about what we would like to be when we grow up. Some of us are still unsure, but we know we have a LONG time before we have to think too much about that!

Have a super weekend everyone!

Reading Celebration in Room 5

We have loved celebrating the First Minister’s Reading Challenge this week. On Monday we took part in a draw along event with the author and illustrator Ross Collins. Then on Tuesday we were part of Scotland’s biggest ever Drop Everything and Read event.  The biggest celebration was on Wednesday where we officially heard that Newton Farm Primary was awarded highly commended for our success in our reading journey this year. We had a wonderful time during our party.

Room 6 First Minister’s Reading Challenge

This week Room 6 have had a another exciting week. Yesterday we watched the live announcement, telling us that the school had won a reading  award. We all cheered when we heard our name.

On Monday we joined other classes around Scotland who were doing the ‘Drop Everything and Read’ event. With the weather being nice, we decided to go outside to read.

To celebrate our award, we had a party in the classroom. We played party games and Mr Allen taught us some new dances, our favourite was the Superman Dance.

We were so pleased to be given a book to take home.
