Room 2 enjoyed all things books on Thursday when we marked World Book Day 2025. We came to school dressed in our comfy clothes and some of us even brought our soft toys from home.
We discussed what we love about books and reading and here are some of our responses:
AT – I like when my parents read with me.
AG – I like the pictures.
IMcL – I like when I read the words.
PH – I like some of the silly words.
HMcH – I like reading because I am really good at it.
AD – I like all the funny pictures.
We had some fantastic paired reading time with some of our friends in Primary 4. We enjoyed listening to the stories and looking at all the pictures in the books. We even tried to look for some of our common words too.
One of the children in Room 2 chose ‘Wide Awake Wolf’ as our book for ‘Story and Snack’. We then learned all about the different parts of a book including the blurb and spine. We decided to be illustrators for the day and create our own front covers using the books plot to help us.
In the afternoon, we found out that there was a ‘Golden Ticket’ hidden in our class library. We searched through loads of books and H found the ticket. Well done H!
We also completed a World Book Day Quiz, made our own bookmarks, had a game of common word Jenga and joined in a reading river with our friends in Primary 1. We had a fantastic day and we will continue to nurture our love of reading throughout the remainder of Primary 1.
On Thursday 13th March, we will be going on our class trip to the Riverside Museum. We can’t wait!
