We’ve had such a busy few weeks and keep running out of time on Fridays to post to the blog, so here’s a quick round-up of some of the things that have been happening lately in Room 24:
- We were able to take part in two peer play sessions with the P1s in Room 2. Each class was halved and spent a session in either Room 2 or in Room 24. Even Miss Napier and Miss Mulreany swapped rooms! We got to see how Room 2 implement their play and were able to take some ideas back into our own class. The P1s enjoyed showing us their role play area themed around ‘People Who Help Us’ and took every opportunity to arrest the P7s, including their teacher! The P7s helped them to explore the role play box in Room 24 as well, helping them try on different wigs!
- Following Storm Éowyn in January, we’ve been studying air resistance as part of our science learning. Through different experiments where we created paper planes and models, we learned that air resistance is a type of frictional force that acts in the opposite direction of a moving object.
- We’re now full steam ahead with the preparations for our upcoming school show, ‘Dare to Dream.’ Some pupils have been busy rehearsing and performing with Mrs Webber and Miss McIver in the gym hall, and some pupils have been busy piecing together the props and scenery with Miss Napier and Miss Henderson. Here are a few BTS (Behind The Scenes) photos that don’t give too much away 😉
- During our Morning Clubs, the class enjoy using Kapla blocks to create various structures and have been competing to try and make the tallest tower. After lots of planning, balancing, measuring and some support near the end from Miss Napier (on her tiptoes!) when it got too tall, some of our pupils were finally able to create a tower that used all 202 Kapla blocks and stood at 206cm tall (almost 7ft). The tower lasted from 9.35am all the way to 2.55pm, when we had to knock it down to put the blocks away!
