Room 16

This week in Room 16 the children have been converting fractions to decimals and percentages during numeracy. They have also been recapping equivalent fractions to deepen their understanding. During writing the children have been practicing their narrative writing skills by creating an imaginative story on a Rainforest image.

During ICT the children have been researching ‘games in the 1900’s’ having a look at the difference in games that they play with now and how they have changed over the years and how the design of products has evolved over the years.

For Health week the children have been participating in a range of activities to support their mental/physical health. We have been learning about how being successful doesn’t mean you are the best at something and all successful people go through set backs/failures. We looked at facts about a range of wealthy/intelligent business people and how they became famous and the hurdles they faced. We also had a discussion about times where we might have failed and what we could do to change our mindset positively, creating a whole-class growth mindset poster. Children from Room 16 that participate in the Health and wellbeing club were practising their yoga skills and were even kindly given some meditation/calming techniques when they feel stressed/overwhelmed. The children are also participating in a variety of outdoor games/activities in support of Health Week tomorrow, including a healthy tuck shop.

Have a lovely weekend,

Miss Reid/Mr McKay
