πŸ‡ΊπŸ‡¦ Refuweegee Visit to Rooms 20 & 21 πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡Ύ

Room 20 and room 21 are studying a War and Conflict topic this term, themed around our separate class novels: The Fox Girl & The White Gazelle by Victoria Williamson (Rm20) and The Boy at the Back of the Class by Onjali Q. Rauf (Rm21). Each novel follows the story of a different child fleeing Syria and seeking refuge in the UK.
On Tuesday this week, we were lucky enough to receive a visit from Claire, a representative at Refuweegee. Refuweegee is a Glasgow-based organisation that aims to support refugees arriving in Glasgow and the Greater Glasgow area. We learned that there are currently an estimated 82 million refugees worldwide,Β with up to 12,000Β estimated to be living in Glasgow right now.
Claire alsoΒ explained to us what the organisation can do to support refugees in the area and also what we can do to help. Please keep an eye on the blog for upcoming information on how the Newton Farm Primary & Nursery community can help our classes to support Refuweegee.
