As part of our consolidation week, we have been revising all of our taught phonemes and using them to make words. In maths, the Squares have been learning about vertical addition and have enjoyed the challenege of presenting their calculations in a new format. The triangles continue to gain confidence with numbers to 20 and have really been focussing on accurate counting of groups/pictures of objects. The circles were introduced to Snappy 6 this week so have been forming and counting in lots of different ways.

We continued our music and drama lessons this week using BBC’s Code Crackers programme, this week the boys and girls learned about the numbers having important meaning in computer code and used this to give commands to their ‘robot’ partner – 1 for walk, 2 for stop and 3 for turn. They were tasked with guiding each other to a watering can and watering a plant- all completed the mission successfully!

In PE we finished off our rugby focus with some group challenge tasks and competitions which was lots of fun. Next week we will be moving on to football on a Monday and hockey on a Thursday.

To finish off the week we read the story of the Chinese Zodiac, the children shared the animal for the year they were born and then wrote a recount of the animal race. In the story we learn that some animals were a little bit mean and selfish whereas others were helpful and used teamwork to help them win together. We all agreed that it is better to work as a team, be kind and always help our friends.
