This week in Room 21 we have had a busy week settling back into our routines and kick starting lots of new learning. In literacy, we began looking at our new novels, thinking about our prior knowledge and making predictions. In numeracy, we have started the term by focusing on subtraction and considering the different strategies we can use to solve calculations mentally.
During Health and Wellbeing this week we discussed the Rights of the Child. We began by ordering our rights in terms of what is most important to us individually and then we tried to work with the rest of our group to come to an agreement about the order again. All this before we finally determined that all the rights are very important!
We were also lucky enough to look at Room 20’s hard work during their Enterprise Showcase. We had the chance to hear all about their creative inventions and ask lots of questions.
Our topic this term is Rainforests so last week we discussed what we already know as well as what we want to know and we will be diving into lots of new learning about Rainforests next week. We also started our new class novel, ‘The Explorer’ by Katherine Rundell, which is linked to our Rainforests topic. We are really enjoying it so far and can’t wait to read more next week!
