🐭 Oor Braw Week in Room 20 🎵🗣

🎵 We started our week with an exciting visit from Mr Devlin, a music specialist, who’ll be coming to see us every Monday morning until the summer. His lessons will be a mixture of virtual and ‘in-house’ visits to the P5 & P5/6 classes. We can’t wait for next Monday to see what new things we’ll learn!

🗣 This week has also been the NSPCC Speak Out, Stay Safe week. We watched an assembly video from the NSPCC, detailing the importance of having safe people to talk to and the different support services available to children, if they feel they don’t have those safe people around them. We took lots of time to have discussions throughout the video and I was extremely impressed with the level of maturity the class displayed when confidently sharing their thoughts and opinions. Well done P5/6!

🐭 On 25th we celebrated our national bard, Robert Burns, by taking a closer look at his poem ‘To a Mouse.’ We studied the language he used so that we could better understand the poem and then cross-linked it with our Emotion Works learning. The class were split into two, one side taking on the view of the mouse and the other, the view of Robert Burns. We used the cog model (in the pictures) to consider each of the following themes: emotions, body sensations, behaviours, intensity, triggers, regulation strategies and influences.
