Newton Farm Primary School and Nursery Class

Working hard in room 8!

Good afternoon everyone.

Well we have made it to another Friday!  Room 8 have been taking part in lots of new learning this week, including learning about the features of a castle.  To help us with this area of our topic we have started to build our very own class castle from cardboard boxes.  Each of the children will be given time, in turn, to work on adding to it over the next few weeks. They have being doing a fantastic job so far and it is really starting to take shape.

In maths we are working on numbers to 100.  This week we were looking at counting in 10s, sequencing,  1 before and 1 after.  The children have been coping well with it and particularly enjoy playing the top marks games online which help them practice.

Literacy this week has involved the ph, wh and qu sounds.  We have also been focussing on our sentences.  By  making use of Little Red Riding Hood, we created sentences about how we thought she would have been feeling during the story.

This week we have combined French with art and the boys and girls had great fun creating their very own French sock puppets!  As some children can feel a bit uncomfortable speaking in another language we have created our puppets to help us during our French lessons.  I think they look great, well done everyone.

Some reminders:

  • Unfortunately I am having to put out another reminder that Newton Farm is a nut free school and that no snacks should contain them.  Should a pupil come to school with such a snack it will have to be removed and returned at the end of the day.  Please note this includes kinder buenos.
  • PE will be outdoors on Monday and Wednesday in all weathers
  • Pupils can bring books from home for D.E.A.R time. Books will be kept in their bags when not in use.
  • and finally next week is a four day week.  School will be closed on Friday for the September weekend.

Have a super weekend everyone and remember to keep beating the street!
