Following the success of last year’s campaign, South Lanarkshire Council are relaunching their now annual Winter Clothing Campaign. This year the campaign is being extended to include sportswear.
South Lanarkshire Council’s Winter Clothing and Sportswear campaign will run from Monday 20th of September until Friday 1st of October. Donations of new or nearly new winter jackets and sportswear are being welcomed at supermarkets across South Lanarkshire. They will then be laundered and given to early years, primary and secondary aged children and young people who need them.
Donations will be accepted at the following supermarkets from Monday 20th September until Friday 1st October:
- Morrisons, Stewartfield
- Morrisons, Lindsayfield
- Morrisons, Hamilton
- Morrisons, Cambuslang
- Tesco Metro, St Leonard’s, East Kilbride
- Tesco, Lanark
- Tesco, Lesmahagow
- Sainsbury’s, East Kilbride Kingsgate
The campaign promotes sustainability in the recycling of winter jackets and sportswear and comes at a good time, as we welcome delegates from around the world to Glasgow in November for the COP26 United Nations Climate Change Conference.
Last year we recycled over 1000 jackets, which were donated to children and young people who needed them across South Lanarkshire. This year we are hoping to achieve similar, if not better, success. Please help us with this worthwhile campaign by donating at the aforementioned supermarkets.
