Primary 1-3 and our Nursery pupils had a great day back in our school building today – even the sun shone for us! The pupils were fantastic and had a busy day settling back into school life here in Newton Farm.
As mentioned in my update on Friday, we have been asked to ensure that all adults in our school grounds maintain social distancing at all times, don’t socialise with other families at drop off and collection times and wear face coverings unless medically exempt. This message has been repeated by various members of the Scottish Government over the weekend as it is an important way to keep the spread of infection under control and keep schools open.
Following our first day today, can I please ask everyone to follow the guidance sent out on Friday? The guidance is :
Only one adult per family should come into the school grounds.
In the morning, please bring your child to the playground entrance only at the designated times, (P1 – 8.55am/ P2 – 9am/ P3 9.05am). If you are early please wait in your car or remain at the car park end of the school grounds to avoid congestion at the handover point. Thank you for leaving the grounds so quickly this morning after dropping off the children.
At the end of the day, again only one adult should collect pupils from each family. Pupils will come out the main entrance door in their classroom order (starting with Room 1 first and moving up to Room 12). Please keep the area in front of the school clear and then come forward to the main door when your child’s class is called. Today many pupils could not see their adult as there were so many people outside the building and this held up the dismissal of pupils. Again please only come at the designated times to avoid congestion in the playground ( P1 2.55pm / P2 3pm / P3 3.05pm).
Hub pupils from P4-7 will come in the side door at the community wing at 9am and will exit from here at 3pm.
Please leave the school grounds as soon as you have collected your children.
Thank you for your help. Following these guidelines will make the drop off and collection of our pupils as safe as possible.
