Head Teacher Update

I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our pupils and families for their efforts to engage with remote learning through Google Classroom.  We are very pleased with the level of engagement we have had from our pupils and I would like to thank all of our parents for how they have supported the children in the past few weeks.  We know how difficult it is to juggle home life, work life and school life as many of our staff are in the same position.  We are aiming to provide as near to a school day as we can without having pupils in front of a screen all day and we are building in time for face to face meets, new learning and revision as well as time for play and relaxation just as we would if pupils were here in school. However we do not want families to be anxious about any aspect of online learning and would ask you to continue to contact us if you have any worries at all.  Key learning tasks are posted each day for Literacy and Numeracy. Health and Wellbeing, as well as other curricular areas are covered across the week.  Please don’t feel pressured to completed all that day’s tasks by the end of the day if your situation makes that difficult.  Complete the registration task and any key tasks you can and do the others when you have time.  Some tasks are a choice either as a fun choosing task or as a challenge for those who want some more work to do but these are not compulsory.  I have attached an overview of what we will provide as a school and we will continue to adapt our presentations as time goes on.  As a staff, we are working hard to learn as much as we can about the technology and the new resources available so that we can support you and your families as well as we can.  There will be glitches as technology is not always 100% reliable and we ask for your patience when that happens.  Staff will remind pupils about expectations when meeting “live” for Google Meets as this should be a safe and welcoming space for pupils and staff to  get together.  Although it is not the same as being face to face in class we hope these live meetings help pupils to see their friends and school staff and share some happy moments together.  I know that our staff are very much enjoying the opportunity to see the pupils and hear their news in this way.   Thank you again for all you are doing and please let us know if you need help in any way.

Take care and stay safe.
