This week in Room 15 we have been continuing our preparations for our stall at the Christmas Fayre. Make sure you keep your diary free on Thursday 28th November to come along to purchase our snowman kits and reindeer water! We have used our enterprise work to inspire our learning in the class.
As well as working cooperatively to make the snowman kits, we wrote our own set of instructions during taught writing this week. Ms Hogg was so impressed when she came to visit, she even gave us some of her special gold and silver stickers and we even have work on the star work wall outside Mrs Meechan’s office! We had to test our instructions and made some of our own creations, making sure we had the correct sequence. The best bit was tasting the snowmen to make sure they were good enough to sell!
This week we also had some music activities from the movie Frozen, with some amazing singing from the pupils (and staff!) in Room 15. Some pupils also worked on some amazing art work with a Frozen theme also. With the change in weather this week, we also had a look at the changing state of water when some pupils brought some ice into the class from the playground to see how quickly it would melt.
In Numeracy, we have been developing our skills in working independently. We are trying to use class resources to help us more and become more confident when setting work out in our jotters, remembering one digit in one box!
We have also enjoyed exploring on the iPad this week. We are all loving the Chatterpix Kids app (free to download!). We have been using this to explore how animators manage to make the animals chat on CBBC’s – The Zoo. We watched this last week in class to explore the behaviours of gorillas and this developed our curiosity to investigate how the programme creators managed to do this. We managed to make some funny clips of the management team in the school as well as bringing some class objects to life. We hope you like our clips.
