Newton Farm Primary School and Nursery Class

On your marks, get set .. GO!

This week in Room 4 at PE we worked on our running skills. We started our lesson off with a warm up which included stretching and movement activities such as walking and running whilst changing direction. We then completed lots of different running tasks. We ran on the spot as fast as we could, ran backwards, around and over obstacles. At the end of our lesson we took part in some relays to see which team would finish first. Some of our pictures are slightly blurry but it just shows you how fast we were running! We then ended our PE session with some cool down and breathing activities. We had lots of red faces but it was so much fun.

This week at Newton Farm we celebrated Financial Education. In class, we learned about all the different coins from 1p to £2. We discussed the size, shape and colour of the coins and we were able to sort them into coin value piles. Yesterday, we also completed addition calculations with money. We added up 1p coins to find out how much money there was in the money jars. We also enjoyed completing a cut and stick matching task where we had to match the coin values to the picture of the coin.

Not only can we now write down quantities for items on a shopping list but we can now also help with counting out some coins at the shops. Room 4 are becoming great little shopping helpers!
