Today in room 13 we finished the term in the best way possible. We had a real experience of the true meaning of Christmas.
As some of you might have heard Room 13 watched the 2015 “man on the moon” John Lewis Christmas advert earlier this week. We discussed the message of this advert and looked into the charity Age Uk.
We decided to send Christmas cards to a care home in South Lanarkshire council to show that we are thinking of them this Christmas. We decided to go with Dewar House in Hamilton.
The children hand made the cards and put their own personal message in the card. Miss McIver was so amazed by the thought that went into these cards.
They were posted and 2 days later Miss McIver received a phone call from Jaqueline who works at Dewar House. She told her that the residents were so happy with receiving the cards and even some of the staff were in tears. Jaqueline explained that many of the residents at Dewar house have dementia and Room 13s cards really made them smile.
The staff and residents were so grateful to the children they just had to meet them in person to thank them. Today a member of staff and resident came to visit the children.
Room 13 were happy to share stories and perform ‘your song’ again. Dewar house also gave every child a tube of sweets! Room 13 were so surprised and thankful.
Today definitely was a day we won’t forget and we can’t wait for our next visit with Dewar House. I didn’t think it was possible to be even more proud of my fantastic class but today I was BURSTING with pride.
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you Room 13. I hope Santa is good to you, you deserve it ❤️🎄⭐️🎅🏼
