Assumes a degree of Level 1 and 2 knowledge. Strategic participation in networks which are delivering targeted, evidenced-based approaches to supporting inclusion of autistic learners in Glasgow. These should link with the establishment’s improvement planning.

This can be accessed through consultation with Inclusion Team and through discussion at the SIIM & LC-JST.
Alternative Autism Strategies
Alternative Autism Support Strategies training is run in collaboration with GEPS and Middlefield School. The training is intended to support staff who are working with young people for whom the standard autism support strategies, implemented appropriately, are not effective. Young people whose profile seems to be particularly driven to avoiding demand in school, even with those supports in place. This training will be most useful for those who have accessed other Autism training and have a good level of understanding of supporting autistic learners. Registration is through CPD manager.
ASL Co-ordinator Network (EDiS)
All establishments have a designated ASL Co-ordinator and information on training is provided through a distribution list. The termly meetings take place on either an area basis or citywide. Registration is through CPD manager.
ASC and SLCN inputs to Support for Learning Worker training programmes (EDiS)
The national professional learning framework for Pupil Support Staff contains many relevant resources within both the skilled and enhanced sections of the framework. Glasgow’s Training and Induction programme for Support for Learning Workers is under review and updates will be available on the PSS page on Go Glasgow. See link in resources section below.
Language and Communication Friendly Establishment (LCFE)
Glasgow City Council and NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde are working in partnership to develop the capacity of all educational establishments to support and develop the language and communication skills of all children. Our aim is for all Glasgow establishments to become language and communication friendly. For more information please see the resources section below.
Bespoke training to specific establishments based on need and readiness discussions (GEPS, health services)
Bespoke training (for example on supporting Autistic learners, sensory differences or supportive communication) can be negotiated via SIIM and consultation.
