It is, therefore, very important to carry out market research (discussed later in notes) to identify exactly what customers need.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reliability\/quality of the product\/service;<\/li>\n<li>Consistency over a period of time \u2013 how does it match up to the last good\/service purchased?<\/li>\n<li>The speed and flexibility of delivery \u2013 can the organisation accommodate the customer\u2019s needs, for example, can they deliver within 24 hours?<\/li>\n<li>Courtesy and attitude of staff \u2013 from those on the shop floor to the delivery drivers;<\/li>\n<li>The information given about the product \u2013 was it accurate? Did it do all the business claimed it would do?<\/li>\n<li>How did the organisation react if help was needed? Were staff happy to assist the shopper?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2><a name=\"_Toc36641887\"><\/a><span style=\"color: #ff0000\">Benefits of Good Customer Service<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/n4businessmanagement\/uploads\/sites\/10340\/2023\/02\/28152939\/download.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-75\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/n4businessmanagement\/uploads\/sites\/10340\/2023\/02\/28152939\/download.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"230\" height=\"219\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Satisfied customers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If customers are happy with product or service offered they will return and recommend the company to other people.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Keeping customers loyal<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Encourage customers to return by offering loyalty schemes e.g. Boots Advantage Card or Sainsbury Nectar Card.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Attracting new customers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>May result from recommendations from existing customers of use of advertising or promotions.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Happy and motivated staff<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>If staff have been trained in customer service policy and are not constantly faced with unhappy customers they will be happier and work harder<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Good\/improved reputation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>The image of the company will be good if customers have a good experience.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Increased sales\/profits<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>More customers means more sales and profits for the company<\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><a style=\"color: #ff0000\" name=\"_Toc36641888\"><\/a>Impact of Poor Customer Service<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/n4businessmanagement\/uploads\/sites\/10340\/2023\/02\/28153114\/bad.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-78\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/n4businessmanagement\/uploads\/sites\/10340\/2023\/02\/28153114\/bad.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"282\" height=\"179\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Loss of customers<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>If customers are unhappy about the product or service being provided they will not buy from the company again.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Bad publicity<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Unhappy customers will tell other people about their experience and may leave bad reviews on the company website or on third party website e.g. Trip Advisor.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Poor reputation<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Bad publicity will lead to the organisation getting a poor reputation. The company will not attract new customers. People may not want to apply for jobs with the company.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Demotivated employees<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Staff who have had little or poor customer service training or who are constantly dealing with unhappy customers may feel stressed. Lack of training can lead to mistakes e.g. giving customers wrong information.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Decreased sales\/profits<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>Lack of returning and new customers will lead to a fall in sales and therefore a fall in profits.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #ff0000\"><strong>Legal action<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong>If complaints regarding e.g. return of faulty goods are not dealt with correctly then legislation in place to protect consumer may have been broken.
