A stakeholder can be defined as “A person or group of people who have an interest in a business or organisation.”
If a business is successful it will benefit more people than just the owners. Also, if it fails then more than just the owners will lose out.
Every business, no matter how small or in which sector it operates, will have people who are genuinely interested in how well it is doing. Charities, newsagents, dentist surgeries, all have stakeholders.
