By using Microsoft Teams instructors have been sharing challenges for their pupils to engage with in place of traditional face-to-face instruction.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\"><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/myexampleblogversion2\/uploads\/sites\/9784\/2020\/06\/04120435\/music-3-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-4659\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/myexampleblogversion2\/uploads\/sites\/9784\/2020\/06\/04120435\/music-3-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"217\" height=\"125\" \/><\/a>Learning a musical instrument is a very practical thing: from listening carefully<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0to a young musicians sound and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">offering them tips and tricks to ensure they\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">always\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">produce their best tone, to support<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">ing<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0them physically by adjusting bow holds or\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">correcting\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">technique<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0etc. Remote learning will never replace in-person, face-to-face music lessons, but it can bring a whole new dimension to learning and teaching musical instruments \u2013\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">one<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0which enhances our service<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and provides learners with lots of new opportunities to develop , <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/myexampleblogversion2\/uploads\/sites\/9784\/2020\/06\/04120435\/music-2-1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-4660 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/myexampleblogversion2\/uploads\/sites\/9784\/2020\/06\/04120435\/music-2-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"371\" height=\"142\" \/><\/a>improve and share their experiences.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Like many others, we faced a very steep learning curve and in the early days took our time to figure it all out. Instructors were not used to using computers as part of their daily routine and had been due to have some in-service training on GLOW in May. Having been pipped to the post and had remote working thrust upon them confidence has steadily grown and, by working collegiately<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">, ther<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">e has been lots of new learning.<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">On our return to school buildings we\u2019ll take with us new skills such as video editing, multi-track sound recording, knowledge and experience of various digital learning platforms and\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">a vast library of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">emojis<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0and gifs<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2026 all new skills which will benefit our young learners.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:240}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u2018Over the Rainbow\u2019, a Music Education Partnership Group (MEPG) initiative to encourage as many of Scotland\u2019s young musicians to perform on Thursday evenings during the clap for carers, gave us the perfect opportunity to engage our pupils online.
