\"\"Using Google Classroom Data to Gauge Engagement <\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Each class uses Google Classroom as the vehicle to support learning and teaching. The teachers set up a \u2018<\/span>task chart\u2019<\/span><\/i>\u00a0of activities as an introduction each Monday. Children and families have the flexibility to complete lessons and assessment across the week to suit their individual circumstances. A \u2018<\/span>learning log<\/span><\/i>\u2019 is then completed by each child to reflect the \u2018task chart\u2019 contents. This \u2018learning log\u2019 is a\u00a0<\/span>Microsoft Form<\/span>\u00a0which provides a useful report for teachers and SMT to analyse in terms of planning for the following week and Google Classroom engagement.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Any children who have not engaged are then flagged up to SMT.\u00a0<\/span>This<\/span>\u00a0will entail a cross-reference with a school\u00a0<\/span>Google Classroom usage report<\/span><\/i>\u00a0which we receive weekly from\u00a0<\/span>our Google Classroom Administrator<\/span>\u00a0showing who has logged in and the volume of activity for each child in the school.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Class teachers are consulted by SMT and a decision is then made to\u00a0<\/span>contact<\/span>\u00a0those families via\u00a0<\/span>Groupcall<\/span>\u00a0\u2013 a generic \u2018<\/span>W<\/span>e\u2019ve noticed your child has had minimal engagement with their Google Classroom content this week. Please contact the school if there is anything we can do to support\u2026\u2019 type communication. For the most pa<\/span>r<\/span>t, this is sufficient for the families to re-engage or let the school know in which ways they require support.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The next level<\/span>\u00a0up<\/span>\u00a0of contact would be a phone call from a member of the SMT. This personal touch is sometimes necessary and beneficial to reassure families and agree a more personalised support strategy for their child. The use of the \u2018learning log data\u2019 ensures a weekly touching base with all departments, stages and classes to allow us to target support and assistance for our school community.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
