During Term 4 of last session, P6 pupils at Noblehill Primary School<\/a> in Dumfries and Galloway took part in a Micro:Bit\u00a0Global Challenge<\/a>.\u00a0 Their challenge was to design a \u2018gadget\u2019 which would support the work currently being\u00a0undertaken\u00a0\u00a0around\u00a0the world to support climate change.\u00a0 The pupils chose Verity, Lilly and Sophie\u2019s design \u2018Shell Cam\u2019 as the winners and this was entered into a global competition.\u00a0 Shell Cam was designed to be hidden somewhere on the beach and video all the different species that spent time there.\u00a0 This information would then be sent back to scientists so they could track the movement and number of species.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

We have recently heard the amazing news that the design was chosen as runner up in Europe!!!<\/a><\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The\u00a0success has been posted on the\u00a0Micro:Bit\u00a0webpage along with the answers to a few questions that our amazing team had to give:<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How do you feel\u00a0being runners-up\u00a0in\u00a0Europe?<\/span>
\n<\/span>– \u2018Amazed, surprised, actually can\u2019t believe it, it\u2019s just WOW!\u2019<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Why did you choose to tackle the problem of animals becoming extinct?<\/span>
\n<\/span>– \u2018A lot\u00a0of animals are becoming extinct and\u00a0food chains are being damaged so we wanted to think of a way to help.\u2019<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

How long have you been using the\u00a0micro:bit?<\/span>
\n<\/span>– \u2018We have only used them 3 or 4 times but we loved them.\u2019<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

\u00a0<\/span>How has taking part in do\u00a0your:bit\u00a0inspired you?<\/span>
\n<\/span>– \u2018We want to know more about what the\u00a0Micro:Bits\u00a0can do as well as help the<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span>environment.\u2019<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What will you create next?<\/span>
\n<\/span>– \u2018Maybe a similar kind of thing but more for\u00a0plants\/ flowers, different types of nature.\u2019<\/span><\/b>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
