Your poster is really informative and I think it will inspire and challenge other teachers to consider this aspect of their inclusion and the gender balance in their own settings. Brilliant!
I also love your 3 pictures and reflections of your journey. Thank you for the recommendation of “Prince and Knight” -are there any other books you’d recommend for use in primary school?
Thank you so much Fleur, that’s really kind. I have to say that I enjoyed the process and it’s been really informative.
In terms of LGBT inclusive books use recommend:
We Are Family
The Girl with Two Dads
Tango Makes Three ( made me tear up)
You already know about Prince and Knight but I’d add that even my P6 pupils loved it.
Some books that explore gender are:
Changing the Game: Fantastic Female Footballers
The Boy in the Dress
Great Women who Changed the World
Hope that helps. LGBT Youth Scotland also have ideas on their website and it’s broken down by level. Next I’m looking into books relating to racism and discrimination.
