{"id":535,"date":"2016-04-19T10:42:49","date_gmt":"2016-04-19T10:42:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/?p=535"},"modified":"2016-04-19T10:42:49","modified_gmt":"2016-04-19T10:42:49","slug":"science-in-the-water-tray","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/2016\/04\/19\/science-in-the-water-tray\/","title":{"rendered":"Science in the Water Tray"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Angela put some boats in the water tray and asked the children a question:\u00a0 <em>\u201cHow can we make the boats move without touching them?\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>There were lots of ideas:<\/p>\n<p>Lara:\u00a0 \u201cWe could wave things at them!\u201d\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Nina:\u201dThey will float themselves!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ava:\u00a0 \u201cI don\u2019t know &#8230;&#8230;&#8230;maybe blow them!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hollie:\u00a0 \u201cWe could blow them!\u201d\u00a0 Ailsa:\u201dWe could use straws\u201d<\/p>\n<p>James:\u00a0 \u201cYou touch them!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>First we used our mouths to blow the boats.\u00a0 Lara\u2019s boat won the race!<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/files\/2016\/04\/IMG_32441.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-536 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/files\/2016\/04\/IMG_32441-e1461062274592-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3244[1]\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-537\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/files\/2016\/04\/IMG_32451-e1461062313327-224x300.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3245[1]\" width=\"224\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Ailsa suggested we use a straw.\u00a0 We raced our boats using a straw this time.\u00a0 Ailsa thought blowing with her mouth was better but Lara thought the straw worked best.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/files\/2016\/04\/IMG_32461.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-539\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/files\/2016\/04\/IMG_32461-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3246[1]\" width=\"184\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a>\u00a0\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/files\/2016\/04\/IMG_32511.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-538\" src=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/milngavienursery\/files\/2016\/04\/IMG_32511-300x224.jpg\" alt=\"IMG_3251[1]\" width=\"300\" height=\"224\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Euan came over to see what we were doing.\u00a0 He said,\u201d You need a big puff to make it move it move!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Angela then asked him \u201c<em>What else could move the boats?\u201d <\/em><\/p>\n<p>Euan thought hard, then said \u201cMaybe trees \u2013 trees give you oxygen!\u201d\u00a0 Euan then tried to blow the big boats and discovered that the little boats moved faster.<\/p>\n<p>We are going to continue experiments with moving air throughout the week and look at what air power can do.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>&nbsp;
