In todays lecture, tutorial and independent study task I learned about inclusion and equality. I learned what inclusion is the three levels of inclusion and its importance. I also learned about the Advantages and what Peggy Mclntosh view was about this “privilege” as she called it. I was able to look into this in more detail within the independent study task as I had the opportunity to research Peggy Mclntosh. I also learned what Equality is and raw opportunities, outcomes and conditions of equality. We looked into the five key dimensions of the equality of condition which are Resources, Respect and Recognition, Love Care and Solidarity, Power, Working and learning. I was able to learn about the Equality Act 2010 and the nine characteristics this Act protected against discrimination which are, Age, Disability, Gender reassignment, Marriage and Civil partnership, Pregnancy and Maternity, Race, Religion or Belief, Sex and Sexual Orientation.

Society &Lifestyles Week 2
In brief, what have I learned from the lecture, independent task and tutorial today? Please be specific.
In todays lecture I learned the effects and influences cultures as well as society have through religion. As well as learning about the scholars that go along with it. I also learned about ‘unchurched’ spirituality and the characteristics which co-inside with this topic. In the tutorial I learned about the scholar Max Weber in more detail as I had the chance to research and find out what his appraise religion as culture relating to its importance in both past and present society. Within the independent task I was again able to research in more detail what the scholars said about religion as a social problem and social good.
Do I understand the main concepts and issues of the topics and areas I have learnt today? Where possible, how can I evidence this knowledge?
I did struggle with some of the concepts and issues but I feel that I will be able to improve this through doing past papers as I am putting what I have learned and research into practice.
Are there concepts and issues that I am struggling to comprehend? What can I do about that?
How has my knowledge in this area developed/increased today? Are there specific areas that require particular improvement? How will I address that?
My knowledge on this area increased today due to being able to link scholars to different sub topic learned in the lecture and this was done through both the tutorial and the independent study task.
If at all, how does what I have learnt today relate to my general understanding of how, using religion as an example, society impacts on lifestyle and vice-versa? Any possible career opportunities/aspirations as a future primary teacher on the things I have learnt today?
Are there specific issues/areas of what I have learnt today that I want to improve? If so, what are they and what do I plan to do?
The areas which I learned today and would like to improve is to link the scholars to different topics and fully understand what is being said by different scholars and their approaches.
