Music
Percussion Instruments was the focus of the session today.
Some schools may have a percussion instrument trolley, however, this is not always the case. Children can make their own percussion instruments out of almost anything e.g. a plastic bottle with some stones in it, children’s toys can sometimes be an instrument such as a rain shaker. It is important that children are presented with the opportunity to make their own and not deprived of the opportunity to experience music through lack of resources. However, if children can make their own instrument the chance to play it should not be taken away from them is not music.
Then we focussed on the Ukulele:
We looked at how some popular songs that are well known everywhere have the same four chords… Click here to see!

Drama
For the drama session, we carried on with the microteaching tasks of other groups in our section. The first group that presented to us were doing ‘Little Red Riding Hood’ and then we had to carry out the different drama conventions relating to the book that they had created.
The next group did not reveal the name of their book, however, addressed the story line then revealed the title. This was an interesting technique as it was different to the other groups previously. The book that they did was ‘Harry Potter’ and through not revealing the title, it could have been any book, as the way it was approached it was very broad. I enjoyed these listening and participating in the microteaching tasks and now feel more able to carry out a range of books to children by using these techniques in placement.
