Why I want to be a teacher

I love to learn. The way I see it, there is no better way of continuing to learn than becoming a teacher myself. To be given an opportunity to work in an environment where every day will be different; where every day I can wake up and not dread having to drag myself to work; where I can constantly learn something new from both my pupils and fellow staff around me… that is something I look forward to without a doubt.

A question children are commonly asked is ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?‘ If you had asked me that question when I was 4 years old, you would find that the answer would’ve been something along the lines of a ‘Princess’. No doubt. However, years later, once I had began my journey through education by attending Primary school, I was inspired by my own teacher. She had helped me discover my interests, my hobbies, my talents; I had become a child who was once quite shy and introverted to becoming a social ‘chatter box’.

Ever since primary school, my answer to the question ‘What do you want to be when you grow up?’ has remained the same, regardless. A teacher.
