{"id":648,"date":"2024-10-12T16:54:00","date_gmt":"2024-10-12T15:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/largsearlyyears\/?page_id=648"},"modified":"2025-02-13T15:30:41","modified_gmt":"2025-02-13T15:30:41","slug":"simoa","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/largsearlyyears\/learning-initiatives\/simoa\/","title":{"rendered":"SIMOA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/hub.careinspectorate.com\/how-we-support-improvement\/quality-improvement-programmes-and-topics\/keeping-children-safe\/\">https:\/\/hub.careinspectorate.com\/how-we-support-improvement\/quality-improvement-programmes-and-topics\/keeping-children-safe\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Safety Inspect Monitor Observe Act<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>SIMOA<\/strong> &#8211;<br \/>\n<\/span>By promoting a SIMOA approach in our Early Years Centre we are building a foundation for our children to grow, learn and explore with a deeper understanding of safety, responsibility and respect.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">In our setting we are; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><strong><span class=\"s1\">Incorporating SIMOA into our PATHS lessons: <\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Article 19- The right to protection; <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Developing safety in our setting allows us to ensure our children are safeguarded from potential risks. Learning how to keep themselves safe and identify potential risks and how to avoid these will be a priority during our <em><strong>SIMOA<\/strong><\/em> PATHS sessions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Using visuals in the playroom:<\/strong><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 <\/span>pictures, posters, and labels around the room to remind children of key safety rules.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Safety Mascot:<\/strong> We have introduced our <em><strong>SIMOA<\/strong><\/em> safety officer who \u201cloves safety\u201d and helps remind us all to look out for potential risks.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\"><strong>Safety Officer:<\/strong> While out on our walks in the community we are bringing <em><strong>SIMOA<\/strong><\/em> along with us as well as introducing some of the children to being safety officers, they will complete our risk assessments, ensure we all have our vests on and do head counts.
