The ‘Keeping Trauma in Mind’ programme of 4 twilight sessions will provide educators from all sectors with an opportunity to understand the impact of trauma and develop trauma responsive strategies to support children and young people affected by psychological trauma. 

Delegates will gain most benefit from attending all four sessions and will have access to presentations and opportunities to network with educators from across Scotland. 

 

One Good Adult : Information session 

11 September 2024

This session will provide an overview of the ‘One Good Adult’ resource created by the partners in the Children and Young People’s Mental Health and Wellbeing Joint Delivery Board  for all people who work / volunteer with children and young people in Scotland across all sectors including education, Health, Social Work etc.

This awareness raising event, delivered in partnership with Rape Crisis Scotland and Zero Tolerance will provide practitioners with an overview of the new Preventing and Responding to Gender Based Violence: A Whole School Framework. 

 

LGBT Inclusive Education with TIE

LGBT inclusive education is for everyone. It is needed to foster a safe and supportive environment for all children, young people and adult learners, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender. 

This webinar will explore: 

  • the national approach to LGBT inclusive education and how we can deliver it in our settings
  • practical examples of what this can look like
  • the positive impact of LGBT inclusive education
  • the strong links to wider equalities work in Scotland

We’re excited to host alongside Time for Inclusive Education (TIE), Scotland’s LGBT Inclusive Education charity. TIE’s goal is for all young people to grow up in a society free from homophobia, biphobia and transphobia. TIE will share the practicalities and impact of their free national programme, ‘Delivering LGBT Inclusive Education’ which provides support for teaching and learning to create an LGBT inclusive curriculum. We will also share the evidence base for this approach and the positive feedback from parents and carers

This session will provide an overview of the ‘Keeping Your Cool in School’ primary resource designed to support children in developing and maintaining positive relationships; becoming more confident in tackling challenging situations and enabling them to have a better understanding of their responsibilities in school and beyond.

Prevent Duty Guidance is Now Statutory 

The recently updated Prevent Duty Guidance for Scotland is now statutory. It became statutory yesterday on the 19th of August. Please communicate this reminder to your networks where possible/appropriate so that they are aware.

Education Scotland has created additional professional learning materials for primary settings to support individual and group learning around how to promote effective inclusive practice using the CIRCLE framework for inclusion and to support development of knowledge and experience in using the CIRCLE framework tools. 

The resources can be used as a group, or individually to explore in greater depth.

Aligning family learning and The Promise – A guide for family learning professionals and GIRFEC strategic leads | Resources | Education Scotland
