Rights Respecting Ambassadors<\/strong><\/p>\n

In Scottish primary schools, Rights Respecting Ambassadors are pupils who champion children’s rights within their school community, promoting the principles of the Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA). They act as advocates for pupil voice, ensuring the school is a positive and inclusive learning environment, and actively participate in discussions and initiatives related to children’s rights.<\/p>\n

The RRSA is a UNICEF UK program that aims to embed children’s rights into the ethos and culture of schools.<\/p>\n

It is based on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC).<\/p>\n

Our ambassadors act as promoters of pupil voice, ensuring children feel safe, happy, and able to learn.<\/p>\n

What impact does the RRSA have?<\/p>\n

It empowers children with a language to express themselves and challenge injustices.<\/p>\n

It promotes well-being, participation, positive relationships, and self-esteem.<\/p>\n

It encourages children to make informed decisions about their learning, health, and wellbeing.<\/p>\n

It can lead to improved school environments and better outcomes for all children.<\/p>\n

In April 2024 Hillhead primary was awarded Bronze accreditation – Rights Committed. We are now working towards Silver \u2013 Rights Aware accreditation.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
