The school is a semi-open plan school, built on one level. The main building is surrounded by extensive tarmac playgrounds, grassed areas, gardens and trees.

Evidence of existing engagement with sustainable education within the school such as garden area, recycling bins, litter picking ‘wardens’, bird boxes, and so on.

The school has attained their permanent Eco Schools flag which they are always working towards maintaining.

-The below picture is of the school Eco wall which shows some of the sustainable development work going on in the school.

  • two willow houses
  • a pond
  • a wormery
  • a bug hotel

Consideration of actual play space for children and its suitability.

All of the school grounds have been developed for active play and outdoor learning. There is substantial room for the children to play including an outdoor AstroTurf pitch and outdoor sports facilities (including basketball, tennis and volleyball). These facilities are used for Physical Education, outdoor learning, extra curricular activities and completing “the mile a day” initiative.

Discussion with children on these aspects of sustainable education.

The children are very aware of a number of sustainability issues such as recycling and the environment. They have an Eco committee within the school with two representatives from each class.
