Where possible, it may be best if someone who has a good relationship with the child or young person, but was not involved in gathering their views or planning, completes this with the child or young person. Where this is not possible, ensure the child or young person feels safe to express any opinion on the process and let them know the purpose is to know how adults can do better next time.

Want to help more Glasgow young people contribute to this guidance?

We want to include as many Glasgow young people’s voices as possible in this guidance. The following MS form questionnaires were co-created with the Career Ready Group in Summer 2023 to explore current practice within a school and inform next steps. These are aimed to be used in mainstream secondary schools. If you would like to be involved but are in an Early Years, Primary or ASN setting please contact us using the details below.

We’ve included an information sheet linked below. We recommend talking through this with pupils and sharing with parents/carers.

Two questionnaires are available, one with a parent/carer consent section. Alternatively, if you have other ways of gathering consent or sharing information with parents/carers we have provided a version with young person consent only which we recommend using with young people 12+ who are deemed able to provide their own consent.

These templates can be duplicated by schools to gather your own data. We kindly ask you to share your data with us so that we can continue to develop Glasgow guidance on how children and young people should be meaningfully involved in decisions that affect them.

To share your data or if you have any questions please contact Glasgow Education Psychology service on 01412763270 or email: FamilyEngagementGEPS@glasgow.gov.uk

Information sheet – meaningful involvement of children in decision making

Link to duplicate – MS Forms Questionnaire with parent/carer consent (S1-S6)

Link to duplicate: MS Forms Questionnaire with Young person consent only (S2-S6)

Thinglink – Meaningful Involvement of Children and Young People in Decision Making Guidance Please explore the guidance, which was co-created with a group of Glasgow young people, by clicking on the image or link above.
