The coronavirus pandemic continues to cause ongoing disruption to learning and teaching as well as having a significant impact on our day to day lives. . RE-CONNECTION

Safety measures in relation to the Covid-19 Pandemic meant that schools and nurseries closed very rapidly to the majority of children in March 2020 and again in January 2021, moving learning to home and removing the school community support structures normally available to Glasgow families.

This did not mean that connections were completely severed, nor did it mean that learning stopped completely, but it did mean that everyone had to learn a new set of skills very quickly. It also meant that the hope and optimism that permeate our Nurturing education system were inevitably leading people to begin to think about the time when children could return to school and nursery.

This starter paper, developed by GPS, is intended as a support for school communities to begin those conversations about return to school for a second time, offering suggestions about guided discussions and signposting helpful resources:
