“In Glasgow we aim to ensure that all our schools and nurseries are places in which children feel welcomed, nurtured and secure. We want children and their families to feel that their needs are understood and met in our schools and nurseries. To do this we work to help all staff continually develop nurturing approaches so that they can meet the needs of all children.”

Nurturing Families

Nurturing Families is a set of resources which any setting which has fully embedded nurturing approaches can use with parent / carer groups to explore what it means to take a nurturing approach both within education and at home. They can be used to support family engagement at any time, but can be particularly helpful for families transitioning into an ELC setting or into Primary.

Nurturing Relationships Policy
Glasgow’s Nurturing Relationships policy supports inclusion and promotes relational practice in all our ELC settings and schools. By following a trauma-informed approach, using the Principles of Nurture, we want our learning environments to be a safe place where all our children are valued and respected. The Nurturing Relationships policy ensures equality and consistency of expectations across the City.
