They are mark making.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Ava:\u00a0<\/strong>Look what I made<\/p>\n<p><strong>Leo:<\/strong>\u00a0Mine is better than yours<\/p>\n<p><strong>Early Years Officer (EYO)<\/strong>: Ooh look at that Ava, I can see lots of shapes on your page. Leo, yours is looking lovely too. Isla, how are you getting on? What a lovely bow you have in your hair today.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Isla:<\/strong>\u00a0I\u2018m drawing my daddy!<\/p>\n<p><strong>EYO<\/strong>: I can see that. It is very neat and you are holding the pencil very well. Where is your daddy\u2019s hair? Your daddy\u2019s got really curly hair. Ooh Abdul, look at that! You have put so much effort in, what will that be when you are finished?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Abdul:<\/strong>\u00a0I don\u2019t know.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EYO:<\/strong>\u00a0Perhaps you could have a wee think.<\/p>\n<p><strong>EYO<\/strong>: But you were sitting so nicely before and trying really hard. Let\u2019s try again<\/p>\n<p><strong>EYO<\/strong>: Abdul, please don\u2019t do that to Isla, she is trying to draw her daddy\u2019s hair.<\/p>\n<p>(<strong>Abdul<\/strong>\u00a0carries on nudging Isla,\u00a0<strong>Isla<\/strong>\u00a0is showing signs of irritation)<\/p>\n<p><strong>EYO:<\/strong>\u00a0Abdul, you\u2019re going to need to stop disturbing Isla as she is behaving very nicely and trying to get on with her drawing. I am going to need you to show kind hands and calm down.<\/p>\n<p>(<strong>Leo<\/strong>\u00a0starts to copy Abdul\u2019s behaviour)<\/p>\n<p><strong>EYO:<\/strong>\u00a0Leo, is there something else you would rather be doing? Your drawing has lots of clear shapes on it, can you tell me the names of any of the shapes?<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ava<\/strong>: They\u2019re just being stupid boys<\/p>\n<p><strong>EYO:<\/strong>\u00a0Ava, they are not as interested as you are and are getting a little distracted.
