Session 1 – 05/11/2019
Legislation and policy framework overview
Raising awareness of legislative requirements. An interactive exercise on how to effectively engage with parents in your setting/school.
Tasks to complete for Session 2 – raise awareness of legislation and find out how parents are currently engaged in your setting/school.

Session 2 – 05/12/2019
Learning at home
Digging into key definitions on the various strands surrounding the legislation and policy framework. Challenging common misconceptions about what learning at home is. A group exercise to look at how learning at home in your setting/school is currently being taken forward.
Tasks to complete for Session 3 – raise awareness of various definitions and misconceptions and investigate how learning at home is being supported in your setting/school.

Session 3 – 15/01/2020
Involving parents in improvement planning
Looking at the ‘Why?’ with regards to involving parents in improvement planning including benefits based on evidence. A group exercise will consider the potential barriers to involving parents in improvement planning.
Tasks to complete for Session 4 – raise awareness of the legislative requirements and evidence-base surrounding involving parents in improvement planning and make arrangements to develop a more collaborative and co-produced improvement plan in your setting/school.

Session 4 – 26/02/2020
Research dilemmas in relation to parental engagement
Looking at what research is along with barriers and benefits to using it. An interactive exercise leading to vibrant discussions about pre-conceived ideas on using research and whether it is needed to improve practice in your setting/school.
Tasks to complete in the future – access a piece of research of specific interest to your area of work.
