If a child Is in immediate danger -Call 999 and ask for the police.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Do not delay if a child is at immediate risk of significant harm.<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Worried About a Child or Young Person?<\/p>\n<p>Everyone has a responsibility to act if they are concerned that a child may be at risk of harm, neglect or abuse.<\/p>\n<p>You can report a concern whether you are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A teacher, early years worker, or other professional<\/li>\n<li>A neighbour, family member or friend<\/li>\n<li>A volunteer, youth worker, or member of the public<\/li>\n<li>No concern is too small &#8211; what you share could be part of a bigger picture.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Who to Contact<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Please contact Social Work Services in the Local Authority where the child lives:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Falkirk: <\/strong>01324 506070\u00a0(Office Hours)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Stirling: <\/strong>01786 471177 (Office Hours)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Clackmannanshire: <\/strong>01259 225000 (Office Hours)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Emergency duty team<\/strong> can be contacted out with office hours (after 5.00pm and at weekends and public holidays) \u2013 01786 470500 \u2013 this service is Forth Valley wide<\/p>\n<p><strong>Police Scotland: <\/strong>Call 101 (non-emergency) or <strong>999 in an emergency.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Professionals: Always discuss your concern with your designated Child Protection or safeguarding lead in your service.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The new<\/strong>\u00a0Notification of Concern Form will replace the Forms 2a and 2b as of 1.12.25.<\/p>\n<p>The intention\u00a0<strong>of this change<\/strong>\u00a0is to make it simpler to share concerns regarding a child or young person and to ensure that sufficient information is provided to determine next steps. <u>All practitioners are asked to phone social work first to discuss a concern.<\/u><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/fvpp\/uploads\/sites\/9924\/2025\/12\/17095542\/FV-Notification-of-Concern-Form-Final.docx\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Notification of Concern Form<\/a><\/p>\n<p>We have also developed new practice guidance to assist in the roll out of the Notification of Concern form: <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/fvpp\/uploads\/sites\/9924\/2025\/11\/25132333\/FV-Guidance-NOC.pdf\">Notification of concern guidance<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Where a named person is seeking support from social work due to an accumulation of concerns or increase in risks, or because of a decision made at a TAC meeting, they may be asked to complete a Wellbeing Assessment to ensure that the information shared is as full as possible.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/public\/fvpp\/uploads\/sites\/9924\/2025\/11\/28145737\/FV-Wellbeing-Assessment-25.11.25.docx\">Wellbeing Assessment<\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>When you report a concern, try to include:<\/strong><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>The child\u2019s name, age and address (if known)<\/li>\n<li>Names of parents\/carers<\/li>\n<li>What you have seen, heard or been told<\/li>\n<li>Any injuries, behaviours or patterns that worry you<\/li>\n<li>Dates, times and places<\/li>\n<li>Any direct quotes from the child<\/li>\n<li>Who else you\u2019ve told (e.g. school staff, police)<\/li>\n<li>Whether you know if the child is currently safe or in danger<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>What Happens Next?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>After a referral is made:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The child\u2019s details are checked with existing records<\/li>\n<li>Social Work may contact you or others for more information<\/li>\n<li>If needed, a multi-agency Inter Agency Referral Discussion (IRD) takes place<\/li>\n<li>Decisions are made about support, further assessment or child protection action<\/li>\n<li>You may not always be informed of the outcome but your information will be taken seriously.<\/li>\n<li>Professionals must share information in line with the National Child Protection Guidance and local Forth Valley Child Protection Procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Why It\u2019s Important to Report?<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Even small concerns can build a bigger picture.<\/p>\n<p>Reporting early may prevent harm and help families get support.<\/p>\n<p>You don\u2019t need to be certain &#8211; just concerned.<\/p>\n<p>Trust your instincts.
