You might start with a QI which challenges you, or an aspect you feel more confident about. Although you do not need to use every QI, they do relate to one another so looking at more than one or two will give you a broader understanding of the impact you are having.\u00a0\u00a0See other suggestions for getting started in the <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.glowscotland.org.uk\/glowblogs\/foodforschools\/tools-and-resources\/\">Tools and Resources<\/a> section.<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>For ease, each of the QIs follows the same format however you can choose at which point to begin.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"list-style-type: none\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Gather <\/strong>&#8211; helps you identify the kind of <strong>evidence<\/strong> you should aim to collect to show the\u00a0impact\u00a0of your work.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Analyse<\/strong> \u2013 sets out <strong>reflective questions<\/strong> to help you reflect on and question your evidence in depth.\u00a0\u00a0 This will help you understand what is working well and what needs to be improved.<\/li>\n<li><b><strong>Evaluate and Plan<\/strong> \u2013<\/b>\u00a0includes an<strong> illustration<\/strong> of what <strong>very good practice<\/strong> might look like.\u00a0 This offers a national benchmark for you to\u00a0evaluate your evidence against.\u00a0\u00a0It is intended to provide examples of evidence and practice, not to be fully comprehensive, nor be used as a checklist.\u00a0 Having identified what you need to improve you now need to plan how you will make it happen. Questions are provided to help you structure an <strong>action plan<\/strong> showing what you agree needs to be done and how you will work together with partners to deliver that The <strong>quality<\/strong> of the evidence gathered is more important than the <strong>quantity<\/strong>.\u00a0 To allow you to look at aspects of your work from all angles your evidence should take account of information and data, peoples view&#8217;s and direct observations of practice.<\/p>\n<p>It is important to ensure the evidence you\u00a0use\u00a0is:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Credible<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0for example\u00a0have questions in a survey been well defined and consistently applied?\u00a0 Has appropriate data collection and analysis been carried out?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Valid<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0for example\u00a0does\u00a0your evidence\u00a0measure or test the question\/topic as intended?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reliable<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0for example\u00a0if carried out again would results be same\/comparable?<\/li>\n<li><strong>Relevant<\/strong> \u2013\u00a0for example\u00a0has it been designed to suit the context and use?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The evidence gathered will help you evaluate what you are doing well, what needs to improve and will help you prioritise what to do next. Senior staff need to lead and manage the processes and methods for gathering, analysing, reporting and using evidence. Frontline staff\u00a0are vital in collecting evidence and as a result they need to fully understand the purpose and importance of evidence.
